Wholegrain Beskuit Recipe (South African Biscotti)
Ingredients:
- 10 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 Cups White Flour
- 1 Cup Coconut Flakes
- 2 Cups Wheat Bran
- 1 Cup Seedless Raisins
- 1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
- 11 Tsp Baking Powder
- 2 Tsp Salt
- 2 Cups Sugar
- 2 Sticks of Butter
- 1 Cup Sunflower Oil
- 4.22 Cups (1L) Boiling Water
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 356 F (185 C)
- Mix together all dry ingredients, except sugar.
- Melt butter and add sugar, oil, and boiling (hot) water.
- Mix liquids with dry ingredients.
- Butter baking pans.
- Place dough in baking pans.
- Bake for 1 hour or until cooked all the way through. Stick a knife or thermometer in beskuit. If it comes out cleanly, it is done.
- When done, remove and let it cool down completely.
- Flip upside down on baking rack/cutting board.
- Cut into pieces and dry overnight in oven at 200 F (100 C)
